Use content to attract clients who dig your vibe, love your work, and pay you what you’re worth

If you’re a solo coach or consultant, you’re both your brand and your product. Sure, people buy your services, but they also buy you. The more you show people how you’re valuable, the more you’re going to attract your crowd. Content that shows how you get your clients’ problems and your unique approach, makes you a magnetic force.

You’re a high-performing coach or consultant, and you could use some help creating content

Starting out creating content?

You see competitors killing it with content, sharing kick-arse ideas, stories, and resources. You’d like a bit of that action. But you’re not sure where to start.

Need to reset your content game?

You’re creating content and putting it out there, but it’s not paying off as you hoped. Either you’re not getting enough enquiries, or you’re attracting people who aren’t the right fit.

“The richness, volume and variety of content Lizzie created out of our content strategy download was amazing. It helped me see what a significant expert I am. I've used my bank of content ideas at least half a dozen times in the last month for inspiration. And it’s improved both the quality of my writing and the reactions.”

Mastering content marketing brings many good things

Attract business enquiries without having to sell.

Build a brand as an expert and charge a premium.

Build a community of supporters who dig your vibe.

Inspire and empower others with your marketing.

Increase your visibility and influence.

Feel confident when you communicate with the world.

What happens if you don’t master your marketing?

It’s possible to run a solid little consultancy on referrals alone. But it comes with a risk. If the market goes quiet or there’s a major upheaval like COVID, you may not want to rely on others to feed you work. And if you want to build something bigger than a low six-figure consultancy, marketing is a must.

“Everybody needs a Lizzie. I love our content coaching conversations. Rich, insightful and rewarding. Lizzie keeps me accountable because I’m terrified of her looking at me in that way she has. She’s helped me build my content muscle and be more strategic.”

How we’ll up your content marketing game together

Step 1: Client interviews

Client interviews are essential for anyone who wants to create powerful, profitable content. Do at least five interviews to discover problems your clients struggle with, why they choose you, and the value you deliver. I’ll support you with interview questions and interview tips.

You can hire me to do these interviews, but they’re a great way to strengthen relationships with your clients and you may end up with new work as a result. Once you’ve done the interviews, I analyse the transcripts to identify useful insights to guide your strategy and content.

Step 2: Strategy workshops

We start the ball rolling with two strategy workshops. I send you detailed agendas and questions in advance so you can prepare.

Workshop 1. Your content foundations

In this workshop we’ll lay the foundations for content marketing success:

  • Your who, your why and your one thing.

  • Your expert topics.

  • Content aligned to your customer journey.

Workshop 2. Brainstorm content ideas

In this workshop we’ll look at what you want to achieve with your content in the next six months and brainstorm a bank of content ideas.

Step 3: Content strategy creation & kick off

A strategy helps you focus your content marketing efforts, so you attract clients who dig your vibe, love your work, and pay you what you’re worth.

We’ll define the foundations of every successful strategy: your why, your who, and your one thing. We’ll identify your expert topics and look at how you can create content to support each stage of your customer journey.

Next, we’ll brainstorm a bank of powerful, profitable content ideas so you’re all ready to get stuck into your content marketing. I’ll make recommendations for a content plan to support your business goals. Finally, we’ll kick off by reviewing the strategy and planning your first fortnight’s content.

Step 4: Content coaching

Once we’ve established your content strategy, we’ll meet every two weeks to evolve your content skills and keep you on track. It takes about three months to build momentum and begin to see results.

Each coaching session will cover a content topic. We’ll also check in on your content activity, plan for the fortnight ahead, and address any content issues keeping you awake at night. I’ll be your sounding board and hype beast, here to give you energy, inspiration, and accountability when you need it.

Your content marketing FAQs answered

  • Content marketing is the art of attracting new business enquiries by creating content that educates and entertains your ideal clients. Content marketing showcases your services and empowers people with knowledge and advice at the same time.

There are many ways to create content. You can write how-to guides, resources, and case studies, send an e-newsletter, or post social media content. You can start a podcast, host a webinar, or write a regular column for an industry publication. Most coaches and consultants pick a few of these channels and create content for those.

The beauty of mastering content as a marketing tool is twofold.

First, it’s an ultra-effective way to market your services. If your content is relevant  entertaining, and useful to your ideal clients, you can attract enough enquiries to build a solid coaching or consultancy practice without cold calling or paid marketing. Plus, having a bank of quality content to draw on makes any sales activity or paid marketing you do more powerful.

Second, valuable content creates positive impact in a way other forms of marketing often don’t. Creating content is a generous activity. You’re giving your expertise and knowledge away. You’re showing people how to do that thing you do for them. You’re sharing your ethos and stories freely with the world. Content marketing helps others and grows community in a powerful way.

  • Yes, I’m happy to do you a standalone content strategy. I quite often work with coaches and consultants who are confident and comfortable creating content. They’re simply struggling to make their content marketing activities pay because their approach isn’t focused or strategic enough. I can help you realign your content market efforts to be more intentional and effective.

  • Maybe. If you have a clear, effective content strategy and you simply need upskilling, support, and accountability to get going, I might be able to help.

However, often part of the reason people struggle to create content and feel they need content coaching is because their content strategy lacks clarity and intent. I’m happy to review your content strategy with you to see if it’s fit for purpose. A strategy audit costs $650 + GST and includes a strategy discovery call.

  • If you already conduct client interviews regularly, and you’ve a bank of five recent interview transcripts I can review, we can work with that.

Otherwise, I recommend you start with client interviews because they’ll give you valuable insights into problems your clients struggle with, help you understand why people choose you, and the value you deliver.

I’ll support you with interview questions and interview tips.

  • I typically have a four-to-six-week waitlist for new projects.

Once your slot comes up, I can develop a content strategy for you in about four weeks if you have current client interview transcripts, and you’re available to do your two strategy workshops close together at the start of the month.

  • Content marketing is a long game with results that accumulate over time as you build a bigger body of content and get better at creating powerful content.

It’s important to understand that marketing isn’t one and done. Even if you succeed in getting your content in front of your ideal client, only 5-10% of the people who see your content will be in the market to buy your services at any one time.

Also, many people don’t buy the first time they see an offer, even if it is something they want. They need to feel they like and trust you, and that takes time. This is why marketing experts say you need to get your offer in front of someone at least seven times before they’re ready to buy. And as a rule of thumb, the more expensive your offer, the more persuasion people will need.

As a result, it takes a few months to get momentum with content marketing. Expect to spend three months feeling like you’re shouting into the void before you start to see initial results. You might get lucky before then. But chances are people will watch you for a while before they get in touch.

Keep creating quality content for a year and you should start to see a steady stream of incoming enquiries. After a few years, your efforts really start to pay off.

Content marketing is a way of doing business as well as a marketing play. This is why content works best for people who are motivated by community and impact as well as $$$ and isn’t a good fit for people who want instant marketing results.

Why choose me as your content guide?

I’m no social media influencer. Last time I checked, I only had 4,431 LinkedIn followers. But I built a sweet six-figure writing consultancy in under two years without making a single sales call, using content marketing alone.

The truth is you don’t need a massive audience to make a decent living.

If you’re a solo coach or consultant you’ve only so many hours to sell. You only need a small, highly-qualified, highly-engaged audience, and to know how to content to make bank.

This is all about using content to meet your business goals

Not all content makes money. Not all content delivers results.

Content that gets LOLs and likes doesn’t always pay the bills. This is why people with huge social media followings can struggle to make $$$.

This isn’t about being popular. This is about getting ahead.

I teach you how to use content to connect with your ideal clients, grow your influence, and attract a steady stream of high-quality business leads.

You can also hire me to do client interviews or write your content for you if you need extra support

Client interviews

If you haven’t time to do client interviews, I can interview people for you. I’ll conduct five client interviews and give you transcripts and a short insights report.

Blogs & resources

Rich, detailed how-to guides that highlight your approach are the content gift that keeps on giving. Repurpose them into e-newsletters, social posts, videos, and webinars.

LinkedIn content

I love teaching people to create powerful, profitable content because it brings joy and dollars. But sometimes you just don’t have time to write your own posts.

More spectacular humans say nice things about what it’s like to have my support with their content marketing

“When I go to events I’ll walk in and people feel like they know me because my LinkedIn voice is so clear, and the stories I tell are so personal. So, when I get invited to do a speaking engagement or somebody asks for a call, the trust is already there because they already feel they know who I am, and what I stand for.”

Ulrika Brunner, CEO, Inspire Group Asia

“I’m getting great feedback on my new content. People are saying I’m sounding sharp. They love the focus on excellence and my clarity. Working with Lizzie has been one of the hardest, most nourishing things I've done in a long time. She’s helped create a massive change. It’s night and day when I think about my content before.”

Angus Jenkins, Coach, Facilitator, MC & Speaker

“Before Lizzie helped with my LinkedIn posts I was averaging 1,000 views for a post. The last 10 posts she wrote averaged 2,998 views. That’s almost a 200% increase. Not only that, but I’ve had more enquiries. People were booking me over Christmas. January is usually a quiet month for me but this year I had consultation calls booked for my first week back.”
